PINBALL "X-MAS" PARTY 2002

Here are some pictures from my "X-Mas" pinball party held on December 14, 2002. This was the first party where a digital camera was used. They came out rather nice. Click on any picture to enlarge (or on the first one to view it as a slide-show). Below the thumbnails are some unique information and stats about the party itself.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

PARTY STATS:

I counted about 40 heads (with 4 kids ranging from 5 - 10 years of age). It was a great turnout and the weather stayed on my side for the first December in years. The party lasted over 10 hours and the final-four snuck out around 2:30AM. Man, were my feet tired!!

All of the games were in excellent working order and (aside from removing the glass once on Medieval Madness for "stuck" balls in the catapult) worked almost perfect. I reset the audits before the party so I could find out the number of plays and information on each game. The results were rather interesting. There were eleven games available for play. Each of them were waxed up and ready to go. And each of them worked almost flawless, minus a ball-hangup or two.

There were also two tournaments held throughout the evening. I was surprised at how many people participated in them. Some trophies were given away along with some runner-up plaques. It was really fun to do this.

Keep in mind that my games are set to 5-ball play. No replays. Medium-Hard settings. Max 2-EB per play. Both White Water and Creature from the Black Lagoon were "tournament" games. Therefore, their total plays are a tad inflated as a result.

Here are the stats (in year order):

1. TAXI
Avg. game time: 2.85
Total plays: 100

2. FUNHOUSE
Avg. game time: 3.42
Total plays: 55

3. THE GETAWAY
Avg. game time: 4.52
Total plays: 47

4. THE ADDAMS FAMILY
Avg. game time: 3.00
Total plays: 58

5. FISH TALES
Avg. game time: 4.87
Total plays: 55

6. CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON
Avg. game time: 4.41
Total plays: 71

7. WHITE WATER
Avg. game time: 3.18
Total plays: 79

8. MEDIEVAL MADNESS
Avg. game time: 5.97
Total plays: 65

9. NO GOOD GOFERS
Avg. game time: 5.13
Total plays: 46

10. MONSTER BASH
Avg. game time: 6.32
Total plays: 39

11. MONOPOLY
Avg. game time: 4.50
Total plays: 44

So, there you have it. I am very surprised at the results since some of them have deviated from the norm. If we use the equation "total plays x gametime" to figure out which game was played the longest......we find Medieval Madness at the top (which seems to be the "norm") and Creature from the Black Lagoon (the newest game and tournament machine) in second place. The remainder at the top are very unique with the classic Taxi in 3rd, Fish Tales in 4th, and White Water in 5th. In 6th was Monster Bash (which has before always made the top five) followed by No Good Gofers, The Getaway, Monopoly, Funhouse, and The Addams Family.

Both of the tournaments were a lot of fun and many in the group participated. The first tournament on Creature from the Black Lagoon began at 6:30PM and ended around 8:30PM. 26 people participated. The trophy winners were Todd Smith (#1: 173,234,010) and Bob Natalo (#2: 87,258,530). The runner-up plaque winners were Lee Matczak (#3: 85,280,440), Alex Natalo (#4: 76,156,820), Larry Lewis (#5: 66,722,980), Thomas Dimperio (#6: 65,070,110), and Rick Batson (#7: 58,552,410).

The second tournament on White Water began at 9:00PM and ended around 10:30PM. 18 people participated. The trophy winners were Lee Matczak (#1: 175,828,600), Michelle Brown (#2: 116,540,000), Maria Nasca (#3: 75,491,340), John Ramalho (#4: 68,422,100), Theresa F. (#5: 48,672,000), David Mitchell (#6: 48,227,600), and Trisha Kinner (#7: 40,751,560).

Around the 11:00PM mark, I was going to start the novice, third and final, tournament on Medieval Madness. However, it seemed like there were only about 10 people around (and only 7 of them would have probably participated). So, I decided to hang on to the trophies/plaques until next year.

Various high score initials in the dot-matrix boards included: TKK, TOD, LEE, JBJ, TMD, MJN, DAY, MJN, MMB , LCS, ULN, DED, PJD, and LAL.

It was a lot of fun. I can't wait until the next one. Until then!!!
